If you like tea, Disney has an experience for you. The Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room Tea Experience tells you the history of Twinings Tea and lets you taste teas, tea sandwiches, and scones. You must make a reservation for this experience and you will have to pay for it since it is not included in any dining plan, but if you like tea, would like to learn the history of tea or want to know how to make the perfect cup of tea, I think this experience is worth it.
Once you check in at the Rose and Crown Pub in the UK Pavilion in Epcot, you enter the Dining Room. Everything is set up for a tea tasting. You learn about the different types of teas and a little history about the tea you will be tasting first. Next, you are told which tea bags to put in the cups and you add the water. There is even a tea timer to make sure you pull out your tea bag at the right time. Now you get to taste those teas.
Next, the cast members bring out the tea sandwiches and the chef comes to the dining room to explain how he made the tea sandwiches. He also gives a little history of the sandwiches. Once he finishes explaining, you can eat the tea sandwiches. We were served four different tea sandwiches and a Hawaiian flower. Everything on the plate is edible. The tea sandwiches were delicious and so was the flower.
Then you are told to put in the other tea bags and are explained the history and differences between the remaining teas. Once the timer ends, you can pull out the tea bags and taste those teas. You are also explained how Twinings Tea started and how the teas are made as well as what type of tea is ready when.
Next, the chef comes to the dining room again and you are given scones. The chef explains how the scones are made and the difference between scones and biscuits. Once the chef finishes explaining, you can eat them. The scones were so delicious and the preserves and butter they give you to put on the scones were incredibly good.
Overall, it was a fun and delicious experience that was very informative. I learned a lot about tea, how it’s made, the difference between the types of teas and how long the tea bags should steep in the water. In addition, I got to try tea sandwiches and scones that I had never tried before. If you like tea or would like to learn all about tea, this experience is definitely for you.
